The Chemical and Lab Safety group provides a full range of services to labs, art studios, shops, and support areas where hazardous materials are in use. We work in a collaborative fashion with the academic community to foster an environment of safety and compliance where research and creativity can also excel.

- Training (Note: Lab Safety and Fire Safety Trainings are required for all individuals working in a lab. MERS training may be substituted for Lab Safety for shops. Art Safety may be substituted for Lab Safety for Studio areas. Contact Kristi Ohr at kohr@umass.edu to schedule Art Safety training. Classroom training is required initially and every five years thereafter. Annual refresher training is required, but this can be completed either online through OWL or through classroom training.)
