The Biosafety group provides a full range of services to UMass Amherst's biological laboratories, farms, crop research zones, fisheries and agricultural research areas where potentially hazardous materials are in use. We work in a collaborative fashion with the academic community to foster an environment of safety and compliance where research and creativity can thrive.
Permits (USDA/CDC, etc.)
Training (Note: Biosafety Trainings are required for all individuals working in a biological lab. Contact Judy LaDuc to schedule specialized safety trainings (Calf Management Safety, Livestock and Poultry Safety, and Field Research Safety training). Biosafety Classroom training is required initially and every five years thereafter. Annual refresher training is required, but this can be completed either online through OWL or through classroom training.)
