Laboratory Safety Training
Laboratory Safety Training is required for faculty, staff, students, undergraduates, graduates, postdocs, and visiting scholars before starting work in a laboratory. This classroom session includes training on the "Right-to-Know" law and handling hazardous waste. In addition to this training, you must also sign up for a Fire Safety Training session.
Check with your supervisor whether you will need to order a lab coat or if there is already one in the lab for you. If you need to order one ask what type (flame resistant blue or poly cotton white) and find out what to put on the name badges (ie “Smith Lab” or your name) then download and fill out the Lab Coat Order Form (except for size) prior to coming to class. Arrive prior to the training session or stay after to be fitted for the correct size of lab coat and safety glasses. We will email you when your lab coat has been delivered to the lab coat room closest to you.
