This training is an alternative to traditional Laboratory Safety Training for individuals who conduct research chemical laboratories.  The topics covered in this course focus primarily on physical hazards one may encounter is these types of laboratories.  The academic areas where this training is applicable include physics, mechanical and electrical engineering, design and wood technology.  If you are not sure if this class is right for you, please contact EH&S for further guidance.

This training session is for persons using laser cutters or engravers, for example at the Studio Arts Building or the Olver Design Building.  As laser cutters use a CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser, the Radiation Use Committee requires that all persons must attend this training session prior to using a laser cutter. Practical training in using a particular laser cutter must be provided by a Principle Investigator or experienced user before a person uses a laser cutter. A person must also complete Fire Safety Training before using a laser cutter or engraver.
