Description: 

The Radiation Use Committee requires that this training session be completed prior to using a laser cutter. . This training session will describe how a CO2 laser is used to engrave or cut materials, the importance of maintaining the integrity of the exhaust system, auxillary cooling system (if required) and about the optics within a laser cutter.  Also, Fire Safety Training MUST be completed before a person is permitted to use a laser cutter.

This training session is NOT for persons who wish to use laser cutters.  If you wish to use a laser cutter, please sign up for a Laser Cutter Training session. 

This training session is for persons using open lasers, for example on an optical bench.  The Radiation Use Committee requires that all persons who use open lasers must attend this training session. In addition to this training session, practical training in the safe use of a laser must be provided by a Principle Investigator or experienced user before a person uses a laser.
